I am actually able to send long messages using the native SMS app -
the issue with that app was accessibility as I could not find a way to
enter numbers in a recipient field rather than select from contacts.
With the MA app the issue is I can send multiple SMS, but when I try
to do this to numbers rather than contacts it doesn't work.

I'm using the Orange network. I didn't check the signal at the time
but most of the time in my house it's 2-3 bars. I've only tried this
once to send multiple SMS to multiple recipients not in my contacts.

Yes, I first got the message about the number of characters and it
will be sent in a couple of SMS, and I pressed ok. But then I got the
message saying this message could not be sent. Perhaps one of the
numbers was wrong or something. But then a couple of strange things.
Firstly I got a reply from one of the people so the message must have
been sent. Secondly, even though the message was sent, my message
doesn't appear in the list of conversations - just their reply is
there but not my original message like normal.
