The way in which you can use a GPS with iPod is to get it connected to a
wireless hotspot or Mifi. In that way, you are always connected and you will
get network so the GPS can work. The same is true for those who have Wifi
iPad.

There's an application which has come to my notice for iPhone which I
think members might find very useful. It's called "Aridne GPS", and is
much much more than a simple GPS application. I've just bought it from
the app store and first impressions are that this is absolutely
terrific. Here are some links, (country-dependent), to the developer's
site where you may read more and, optionally, buy the app. If the second
one or third one don't work, try the first:
