Hello Jurgen

Actually you've written to Gordon's address, not mine. Not to worry; I have
re-routed.

There is no PDF manual except for the advanced administration guide. I can send
you that if you like. But again I warn you you are expected to know how to
configure Apple Server before you start on these tasks.

May I ask you which aspect of the server you want to use? Perhaps we can help
you to configure it, as that is what Gordon does for a living; and he has
configured the server we use for our lists, so he must know what he's doing.

Do you have any experience with the configuration of server? Please believe me
I do not want to appear patronising or anything. I'm only concerned that you
may start off in the wrong place and become frustrated. That has happened
before. But as I said I don't think there are any PDF guides except for the
advanced administrators guide. You have to start up from using Snow Leopard
Server. Much of the GUI has been changed, but I can send you the Server Admin
tool which doesn't come with Lion Server, it's a separate download. It will let
you configure some things that the server.app won't, but again be warned, it
has been stripped down and is nowhere near to as comprehensive as it was in
Snow Leopard.

This is just my opinion, but I think Apple should have maintained their
previous way of working. That is, make the server version of the OS entirely
separate. That way, it is possible to keep the custom options. As it is, Apple
seems to be assuming that, if you buy the server module, you must be an
advanced system administrator.

So, if there is any way I or we can help you, please let us know. If you want
the advanced administrator's guide, I will happily send you that.

There are good administrator's guides to Snow Leopard Server but the problem
with that is that Lion has changed the ball game totally.

Hello

No, you only get what's in the documentation. I can let you have a look at the
PDF manual if you like but I warn you it is quite advanced.

Thanks for your answer.
Are there some guides to the server in the terminal?
Best regards

Hello

if you want to do those things you'll have to go into the germinal and the CLI.
Yes, the GUI is butchered, that's why Apple has reduced the price.

What do you mean, it's not accessible? I use it all the time, it works fine
just like regular OSX. What part do you find inaccessible?

Lion Server is a total nightmare in comparison to Snow Leopard Server. I guess
that's why Apple opted for more close integration. I think that was a huge
mistake. But inaccessible? No, definitely not!

I don't for a second dispute the fact that you're having problems. But can you
be more specific

Gordon

Hello
For a month ago i have buyed the lion server, but it is not accessible.
Did anyone know a solution to get the lion server work with voiceover, or is it
possible to make a downgrade to the server in snow leopard.
Have anyone tryed to get the money back from apple for the lion server, or is
it possible that apple will make a update to the lion server there is VoiceOver
compatible.

I hope anyone have some answers to my questions.
Best regards
Jorgen
