A matter of purely personal opinion this one <smile> but my favourite by far is Nisus Writer Pro, a link was posted to a most interesting and detailed review of the software on list not all that long ago when the new version was launched.
Another 2 word processing packages I've used are Open Office and Pages, Open Office wasn't too bad but it could be a little fiddly to use in some parts. Pages again in my view was very much overrated when it came to accessibility, I didn't like the layout of the software and I spent 3 quarters of my time trying to get various functions to work. With Nisus Writer Pro, everything to me seemed logically laid out and where it should be in a word processor, I could perform just about every operation I required on a document with shortcut keys and keystrokes in seconds and this to me stands out with this software as its more productive for me to be using keystrokes and shortcut key combinations than it is to say with Pages go wandering about the programe trying to get basic things like numbering styles to work. Again, the above is only my personal experiences and I encourage you to try each Word Processing package to see what best suits you.
