In addition to the ones already listed, there's text edit (which is a whole lot more than just a text editor, and it comes with the os), there's bean which you can find at:

which works well with vo, and handles most things you'd need to do with word processing packages, but it's a little lightweight, so won't do if you're working onheavy duty reports, term papers, or the like, but still works very well for most other types of editing. Libre Office is an offshoot of open office, with a lot of the same limitations, but it does work, and can be found at:
http://www.libreoffice.org/
And, I tried one some time ago I can't recall the name of, but it worked well too, though the name escapes me at the moment, simultron or something similar. I'd go hunting for it, but it's time for me to go to sleep, I'm having trouble staying awake long enough to type this reply, so more later.
