Hi Donal,

I'm no Apple fan boy as you would no doubt have surmised from my previous post,
but unlike most on this and another list I'm kind of excited. Perhaps if I
upgraded from the 3GS to the 4 last year I would feel differently, but even in
that event I would have considered the augmentation of the camera, battery life
and processor.

I would agree with you and Rose that Siri doesn't sound like a big deal, but I
suspect I'll come to wonder how I ever managed without it. Case in point -- I
was meeting a plane and asked the free siri app "what's the status of USScare
flight 999 and it came back immediately with an arrival time and gate number.
Now, using the 4S I can get this integrated into the OS without having to
launch the app or play around with the web page? I suspect there will be a
number of innovative ways to exploit this functionality!!

Totally agree with you about politicians though :).

Best regards.
Geoff

it simply uses words, extrapolates context using some kind of ruleset and
gives back answers.

Essentially we've waited 16 months for a device with a faster chipset, a
better antenna oh and voice recognition packaged as a personal assistant. A
triumph of marketing over content.. Who knows, the people who put that little
lot together are probably the same geniuses who put the spin on unpopular
government policy.

*smile* I'll probably still buy one though because my poor old 3gs is
starting to give up the ghost. I'll now await the collective explosions from
the apple-can-do-no-wrong fundamentalists!

  Cheers
