Hi Karen,

The quick way to close a window is simply to type the shortcut for closing 
windows, which is Command+W.   No need to navigate to the close button and 
press it when you can do this in one step.  Also, for an Apple Knowledge Base 
article giving Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts, look at:

If you forget the location of this document, do a Google search for "Apple 
support keyboard shortcuts".
