My Mother is migrated, so my next question is how to tell her to open 
notification center?  She isn't a VO user, hence the method I know is 
inapplicable.  Also,, is there some kind of visual indicator that there are new 
notifications?  On mine, the new voice mails and text messages pop up, but some 
items are not shown unless I open notification center.

BTW, thanks Bryan for the link.  It was just a matter of installing the latest 
iTunes, backing up the 3GS and restoring it to the 4S.  Of course since it 
takes her a half hour to agree to any terms and conditions dialog it was still 
quite a chore, and needless to say, wi-fi sync is going to wait!!
