OK there is where I come in to help you out/. Don't do an upgrade install.
this is how you do it. when you've downloaded the lion installer to your machine, go to it and right click (VO - Shift-M and go to show package contents. You need to find a package name called InstallESD.dmg or something like that. now you can do this one of two ways... firstly mount this volume. from this point you can burn this to DVD using disk utility. the other option is to create a pen drive version (I advise this above anything else due to speed and reliability) where in disk utility, your pen drive is seen as a drive, the volume for Lion is mounted, then go to restore and create a restore point. If you're lost, I'll help further. it can get a bit long winded but it's a better way. reply back and I'll get this sorted. sorry for the hurried message.
