Hi Daniel,

The Document Inspector in Pages can tell you words, pages, paragraphs, lines, 
characters, and sections either within your selection or within your whole 
document, depending on how you have the pop up menu option set.  

Of course, one way to check the number of pages in a printed TextEdit document 
is to do a Command+P and examine the Print menu.
