Hi Catherine, I think you find the Apple ID under Settings > Store. When I go there, my Apple ID shows up at the bottom of the screen. If I double tap it, I have the options to "View Apple ID", "Sign Out", or "Cancel". Double tapping "View Apple ID" prompts me for my login password, and lets me edit my account settings, such as payment information.
Before you make any permanent changes, where did you go to change your Apple ID, and what is the reason you are changing it? That my help to make more constructive suggestions about how to proceed.
