I am quoting some text from a previous message about a
different application of the same idea so I figured I had better
pick a different subject.

I am trying to outwit a very complex Windows-centric web
site that I need to use for work so I will try cheerfully lying
to it by saying that I am using Internet Explorer to see if I
get any further than I have been getting all day which is
nowhere.

That was exactly as described.

If I look at the safari menu, there is no new item even
though the development box remains checked.

Where should this show up?

Thanks.
