Hi Jim -- I think VO+Command+Spacebar is the keystroke you're looking for. This will toggle item selection on. You can then use VO+arrow keys to move to the next item you'd like to select, press VO+Command+Spacebar on it, and VO should announce something like, "item added to selection. 2 items selected." You can repeat the process for other items you'd like to add, but make sure you navigate using the VO+arrow keys, otherwise I think you lose your previously selected items if you just use the arrow keys to navigate.
