Hello All.

I have made an exciting discovery with VMWAre on the Mac. As those people who
use Windows within VMWare and use other screen readers. There is a method that
I have created to resolve keyboard conflicts with Voice Over and the Mac.

1. Download an application called remapper. This program allows you to remap
your Mac keys.
2. Download sharp keys which allows you to remap window keys.
3. Ensure they are all installed before starting and you have made a backup of
your Mac. I only mention this for safety reasons. The steps I am about to
highlight shouldn't effect the Mac. But it is a good idea to always back up.
4. Open Mac preferences and find Remapper.
5. There is a table which lists all the keys. You ar looking for the right
option key for this example. Once you find it use vo backslash to expand the
table.
6. Change the right option key to right control for Virtual machines and close
the window.
7. Launch your VM with windows.
8. Once you are on the desktop, run Sharpkey and go down the list of commands
until you find the right control key.
9. Press tab twice to end up on the list of keys to change too.
10. Navigate down to the special insert option.
11. Tab to the option to write to registry and log out and back in. To have the
changes to take effect.
12. Now you can use the insert key with no problems.

Why I have gone to all this length to find a good solution, at least I think it
is. This is because when I had changed the right command key to the insert key
under Windows. I had to use the FN key to do majority of the keystrokes for the
screen reader. The right option could have been used. I had issues with this
key as well. Also the reaper program has bigger advantages where you could
relocate the caps lock key on the Mac to a different key as well. You will
require a second program which the Remapper refers too.

The other discovery is that you can use the number pad on a Mac laptop on your
guess OS. I have only tried this with Windows. If you hold down the function
(FN) key and then press the following keys, you will get the same functionality
as a normal number pad:

fn / - plus
fn . - del
fn m - insert key
fn ; - dash key
fn l - page down
fn k - down arrow
fn j - end key
fn p - * key
fn o - right arrow
fn i numpad 5
fn u - left arrow
fn 0 - / key
fn 9 - page up
fn 8 - up arrow
fn 7 - home key

You can use the insert (fn m) key with all the other keys mention above to get
Jaws functionality.

I hope this detailed email helps others.
