I personally don't like the concept of typing using a Braille style keyboard, to be honest. Actually I've never tried the keyboard on the Connect40, as I only use it as a "Display", not a "Perkins". :)
But it's horses for courses, each to their own. As long as it results in messages etc. which are actually legible, then it's not really a problem. ;-) As for your last line, Mac Access isn't a buy/sell group, as you know. so I would hope that anybody interested in buying your display would contact you off list.
