It is an 5MP camera, but not all the power of the camera is released to
developers for use with the OCR resolution.
It is for this reason that I will not even get the 4S, as I will wait for
the iPhone 5 , as maybe it will have better than the 4S, as the 4S is 8MP, I
suspect that not all the resolution is there for apps as well.
I think Apple would do well to put an even higher MP camera on the iPad as
well.

There may well be technical reasons for the design philosophy which went into
both the iPhone 4/4S and the iPad 3. Personally, I look at it this way; both
are mobile devices. It's not reasonable to expect MMS messages to have
horrendously high attachments. If one requires super-high resolution video,
it's possible to buy the iPad Camera Connection kit which will allow you to
connect the webcam of your choice.

Therefore, I really don't think these issues are show-stopping issues, although
yes I do agree that the option would be nice. The audio on the iPhone 4S is
pretty good given the size of the device. And although I haven't yet heard
music from the iPad 3, I have no reason to believe that the audio there won't
be good also. Spoken audio I have heard and that is fine.
