You're more than welcome. I should have added that, if you want to boot a
machine into Target mode, just hold down the letter "T" for as long as it takes
for your new machine to see it as a volume. Usually takes about 10 to 20
seconds, but it's very reliable. That way I have done countless upgrades and
migrations for clients in similar situations to yours. It's great that people
in our neck of the woods are now starting to realise the potential of Mac OS
and iOS and if I get the job I'm applying for I am hoping that my days of
teaching may well not be over after all. :)
I personally don't have a lot of confidence in my teaching skills, I'm far more
at home in sorting out technology and Braille transcription. But for whatever
reason some others don't seem to agree. I'm not going to go on about this, but
anyway I'm glad you're almost up and running. I would just suggest though
that, for future similar occurrences if you're going to do migrations of this
nature, you might want to get yourself either a Thunderbolt cable or a 1394B
(Firewire 800) cable. New machines come thunderbolt-ready and it's infinitely
faster than FireWire. So if you can, go that route next time and you'll be
amazed just how fast it actually is. We experienced our first Thunderbolt
visit a couple of days ago and I came away mighty impressed.

I followed the directions with a lot more confidence after reading your
post. I had to take the slow route using Migration Assistant over WiFi, but
all seems to be going great. I Guess I'll know for sure tomorrow as this will
take about 10 hours!
I appreciate this tips very much. I'd be lost without this list. With it I'm
doing much much more then I ever did on my Windows machines and rather then
fighting with the computer, I'm usually having fun.
