Hi! Thanks for the explanation. I'll change my settings in notification center; had it set to banners, but if alerts work better, then I'll use them instead. Notification center is awesome, but doesn't read changes in dropbox, and can't be configured to use the system voice. I've found an article, though, and it seems that a new version of growl will be coming soon. So, I'll just tough it out until then. I think, but am not sure, that this is the same in Mountain Lion, with the button to view the notification always being show. Did any of that make sense? lol.
