Hi Donal

First, I have to say that I didn't find the Promise Raid utility particularly
helpful in regards accessibility. But if you want loads of space, I suggest
you leave it at its defaults but unless you feel you need additional RAID
options. If yours is still the same as it was when we bought ours, I think
it's set to RAID5 by default. Mirroring and striped, from memory. If you're
prepared to trust in the fact that your drives are new and, thus, shouldn't
fail on you in a while, maybe you might want to change it to RAID0 which will,
I think, give you the most data storage.

But whatever you do, make sure you use Thunderbolt, rather than Firewire 1394B
or USB. The difference in terms of speed is amazing.

Hi Gordon,

I'll be honest I've only bothered to unpack it about 2 days ago. I'm trying to
decide how best to configure it to facilitate backing up multiple macs, and
also to enable plenty of space for data storage. Any thoughts?

Thanks as ever,

Dónal
