I have a saffire pro14 which is a wonderful unit. It's rock solid, is fireWire has 2 wonderful mike preamps and as many in & outs as anyone could ever want for a basic home recording situation. It has very low latency and on and on but the draw back is, the software mixer tool to reallocate inputs outputs etc is virtually inaccessible. If you have eyes to help you set up configurations, you can save them and are able to load them with out problem but choosing what things are set to out of the box is nil. It's set up with 1 instrument level and 1 mike input which is what I want but I also have daughters who can see and can help at a pinch. If the box had hardware controls for changing input 1 & 2 from instrument to mike like it's big brothers do, it would be the perfect device for me.
On the front you have independent volumes for both inputs, a fantom power button, volume for the headphone and a monitor knob as well but the device is so configurable, you can virtually set any input or output to where ever you want. I wish I had such a good I/O box with VO friendly configuration but have what I have. On the positive though, it never gives me problems, is always right in sink with GarageBand and has imo some of the best sounding mike preamps on the market. You can find information at the blow link. Be aware though, it isn't the cheapest option but definitely a quality one. http://global.focusrite.com/firewire-audio-interfaces/saffire-pro-14 Danny: <--- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net ---> To reply to this post, please address your message to [email protected] You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: <http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html> or at the public Mail Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/>.
