Right, if that's the case, you shouldn't have a problem.  No, it won't work via 
a DVD because those machines won't boot from DVD as far as I know.  No, you 
wouldn't be able to burn it via Windows unless you had some software such as 
the one I use called "TransMac" TransMac allows a Windows machine to read/write 
Mac format disks and files just like a Mac does but it can be a bit tricky to 
use.

Anyway, the recovery option should work as long as you have wired Internet 
available.  Wi-Fi won't work because you have no means to configure it.  I hate 
to rub it in, but this is precisely why you should always keep backups.  Just 
out of interest though, how did you manage to erase the Mac hard drive?  In 
order to do that you would have to have been booted from a different drive.  
I'd be happy to go through this with you off list if you think it would help.
