Hello James Just wanted to say "Good Call" on this one, since you correctly used the upper case "L" on the string "~/Library/". However, you did miss the closing quote. ;-)
Just joking James. As I said it was a good call. Most people forget that some systems, (ours, for example), are case sensitive as has always been the case with Linux/Unix systems I believe. We use case sensitive file systems because it allows us much more flexibility. It can, at times, cause problems though under OS X. Getting back to Cait's problem though, it brings me back to another subject close to my heart, backups. I honestly believe that if possible, it is always wise to create a full system backup before a major installation such as Chrome is performed. We personally have never performed that specific installation, although we have been tempted too given the number of websites which still do not support Safari 6. Something which does not impact on my own personal use, but which does on Gordon's and, I would assume, every other VoiceOver users as well, is the verbalisation of icons mapped to links or even just text. So, you'll hear something like "Link, Icon_1_Home.gif" followed by another occurrence of "Link, Home". Sometimes there are two links, sometimes not; depends very much on the website. I have often wondered whether that happens in other browsers using VoiceOver. Anyway, I am drifting off topic. Good call regarding the instructions you gave to Cait. I encourage backups be made using apps such as the recently and extensively discussed "Carbon Copy Cloner" and "Super Duper!". They would save a great deal of headache I'm sure. In the Finder, press Command+Shift+G. This will bring up the "Go To" dialogue. 2. Type the following, without the quotes" "~/Library/ There is a slash in this quoted text., so you might just want to copy the quoted text. 3. You'll find the Application Support and Preferences folders here. 4. Within the Preferences folder, you're looking for a file called something like: "com.google.chrome.plist" There may be a few of these files. You can delete them and then empty your trash. This should alleviate your problem. <--- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net ---> To reply to this post, please address your message to [email protected] You can find an archive of all messages posted to the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: <http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html> or at the public Mail Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/>.
