Simply hit enter on the file or folder to rename it., type the name and hit 
enter.

I use the unarchiver which will do what you want it to. It will extract the zip 
or rar file or in some cases .bin file and put the files in the trash. and you 
empty it or move it back if you messed up.
 I would have it put the files you extract always in a folder so that you don't 
loose them. If not only if there is more then one item will it do it.
