In keeping with the topic: I cannot get Fusion5 to recognize or "see" my
boot camp partition - it doesn't appear in the Virtual Machines Library
table. I just installed and ran VMWare for the first time yesterday (trial
version) and read through the help system. Following those instructions for
creating a VM from bootcamp, I was unable to locate the Bootcamp partition
in the VM Library. I will try again today or tommorrow, but wonder if anyone
has any suggestions? Could it be a trial version limitation? Or, maybe I
just need to reboot?
I'm open to suggestions.
thanks

Hi All,
I've uploaded a copy of the VM-Demo.mp3 file that Gordon created in April
2007 for the Main Menu program to the web site at:
<https://files.mac-access.net?login=mac-access:mac-access>
It's 27.9 MB and 51 minutes long. This was pulled off my 2005 PowerBook
G4
and converted from the downloaded WMA format.
I've also uploaded the streaming mm298.m3u file for this program, which
includes the succeeding hour of live questions that follows the program.
The
first file is the pre-recorded demo podcast on virtual machines that
Gordon
made available for download before the program. If I open the .m3u file,
it
starts playing in iTunes as a streamed music file (requiring an internet
connection.) In case I've made an error in pulling this off, it can be
found
on ACB radio's Main Menu site. Here's the shortened link:
http://bit.ly/brVoDC
Then move to the link for 2 May 2007 program, which links to the streaming
file.
Also, for new users, the mac-access.url file at the above linked URL
provides a link to the Mail Archive pages for this list. You can place
that
file on your Desktop, in your dock, or other location of your choice, and
when you open the file your browser will open a window or tab to the Mail
Archive web page for the mac-access list. Such files can be mailed as
attachments, and will also work on Windows machines in the whatever web
browser is used.
I have to say, that I believe this podcast is primarily of use for people
who are unfamiliar with the concept of virtual machines. It doesn't really
answer the question of step by step directions for a current VMWare Fusion
installation, due to the vintage of the podcast, the older version of
VMWare
(3), and the operating systems (Mac OS X Tiger and Windows XP). Of course,
this is based on my memory of listening to the podcast 5 years ago.
HTH. Cheers,
Esther

Afraid not. You'd have to look it up on their website, if it still

that is. But be mindful that it was done with a very early beta of Fusion
1.0. I was in on the act from the start.
