If you have a trackpad enabled, with track pad commander enabled, you can swipe 
with 2 fingers from the right edge of the trackpad towards the left edge. Also, 
in menu extras, 
VO m m
if you VO right arrow you'll come to the notification centre menu. Press
VO space to open the menu and VO down to go through the options.

Hope this helps.

Also, to avoid confusion, the latest Mac os with the notification centre is 
"Mountain Lion" not to be confused with the last which is simple "Lion"
