Good suggestion, Sarah.  It's just that I hate having unexplained mysterious 
sound glitches around, and usually want to check the volume slider by hand 
since cmd up or down arrow doesn't tell you the current setting. Of course, 
this only leaves me with an "explained" mysterious glitch, but I still like 
knowing. Just my suspicious nature.
