Hello Jim, Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this question.
What do you find cumbersome about ABBYY Fine Reader? The latest version of this program allows for scanning multiple pages. It also handles double pages very well. To scan multiple pages: • Open ABBYY Fine Reader; • Select your scanner from the pop up menu; • Click the Convert to Text Document button; • When the preview has finished, go to the last item then left once and click the Scan button; • Fine Reader will be busy for a while and then will tell you how many pages have been converted; • Click the Resume Scan button; • Now use the window chooser to return to the scanner window; • Click the Scan button again; • Click the Resume scan button again if you want to scan more pages, or Click the Get Result button if that was the last page; • You can then give the document its title and save it wherever you like. This does not appear to handle scanners with automatic feed. For scanners of that type, VueScan is more appropriate.
