I think so. Have her boot from a bootable usb drive or dvd of mountain lion, if 
she has a double layer dvd, then have her go in to the disk utilities and 
formate the partition  that the os is on. not the whole drive. then have her go 
to reinstall os 10.8 and follow the prompts.
