I have paused my MP3 files before and restarted.  I guess if you lose your 
Internet connection while it is paused, you may lose your place.  I usually 
demonstrate DVS movies to clients with my iPhone.

I'v'e done it before but it will not keep my place no matter what I do. and 
keep in mind any off line  content you decide to keep if you set it to the 
highs slider in the prefs can only last time i checked be a total of 1 gig.
