hi all
thanks for your help. i think actually the problem is with the machine
rather than may be the machine being booted as i first thought because it
seems to not boot up properly and shut itself down. may be a trip to the
apple store is needed.

I don't know your set up, how ever have you tried hitting the fn key plus
f12 to make sure volume is up?
Keep us posted and good luck.

hi all
switched on a macbook pro earlier today and can't get a single sound out
of it, i tried command f5 to turn vo on in case it was off but nothing.
is there anything else anyone can suggest to get this back working? when
i turn on the machine i get the sound you get when you immediately turn on
and that is all. this is so frustrating as there is noone sighted around
to help.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
