Yah, could be the character set you save the html with. Try to use
us ascii, or utf8, don't use utf16, that makes all kinds of things
misbehave.
In your save dialog (well, you may have to do a save as to get the
dialog to come up again) text edit will prompt you for all kinds of
things, one of which is the character set. Make sure it's set to
something generic, like us ascii, is8951 (I think that's the one,
can't remember at the moment) or something similar. A quick and easy
way to make sure the file is plain text is simply to hit command-
shift-t when in text edit, that will turn the file int a plain text
file. That's what you want. Also, you will want to go into text
edit's options, and check the box to ignore rich text commands in
html files. This will prevent text edit from rendering the html
output instead of showing you the raw text.
Also, since you like to hand code your html files, I recomend taco
software's taco html editor. It's got loads of html helper
templates, but it's not really designed as a wysiwyg editor, though
it does have a live preview mode that shows changes as you make
then. It makes inserting things like tables, forms, and and other
structures relatively easy. I say relatively, because it does
nothing to prevent you from creating forms that won't work, since it
assumes you know what you're doing, and it won't yell if you select
both get and post for the form method. So, if you like hand editing
your html code (like I do) then head over to http://www.tacosw.com
and pick up a copy of taco html editor, and you'll be glad you did. :)
It's only about 30 bucks, but again, it's not for the beginner html
user, it takes a bit of know how to make sure it doesn't do goofy
things with your html code when you use the insert command to add
pieces of code for you, but if you're fairly confident with your html
skills, it's exactly what you need, as it stays out of the way, and
allows you to do your html coding the way you want while offering you
tools to make it easier. Generally, I don't use the insert function,
unless I have a table I know the exact dimensions to, or have a form
that I need done in a hurry, then I'll use it for those kinds of
things, but otherwise, all my html coding is done by hand, and I've
not found any html editor that allows me to work that way until I ran
across taco html editor.
So, sorry for the long plug, it wasn't really meant as a sales pitch,
I just have a tendancy to ramble when I get going on a topic, as I've
done here.
But, in any case, if you wish to continue using text edit, feel free,
just be sure to click that rich text box in the preferences so it
won't interpret your html code instead of showing it to you.
hth.

Hmm the code looks correct but I'm just glancing at it after coming
up for air from lily pond lol! Can someone who knows html better
then I do maybe push us in the right direction on what she needs to
do to get it to work on her mac?
Maybe try converting the file in to plain text then upload
the .html file that way?
Tc all.

Screw editing programs. Hahahaha. No. I'm coding in HTML. My code

<img src="picture.jpg" alt="Felix using podcasting equipment"
width="38.92" height="29.44">
For example. I can't remember the exact text offhand, but that's
the idea. I'm using text edit for the editr.

Hellow,
I'm using the mac and been asked to put a picture on a web page
for someone. I put the picture on and it was way too big,
changed the size in pixels to a much smaller size and it was
tiny. Well I tried to change the size to make it a bit bigger,
but for some reason, it won't let me make it any bigger. This
is happening on both my machines. At first I thought it might
just be the macbook pro playing silly idiots, but the mac mini
is doing the same thing.
Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it? I can't
be the only person who does web page stuff on the mac.
Thanks,
Harmony.
