Can you move those to another folder, if you don't want those original apps on the home screen, or do they have to stay there?

Double tap and hold while VoiceOver is focused on the app you want to delete. Your finger can, but doesn't have to be, on the actual app icon while you do this. Once you've done so, you'll hear a brief three tone sound. At this point, double tap again, assuming you're still focused on the app you want to delete, and you will be prompted to confirm the deletion. I hope this clarifies things somewhat.
