Hello Will, The letters I'm talking about are the ones you've put in yourself earlier when doing, say, the across clues.
I go through the cryptic crossword as quickly as possible putting in the answers I can get easily, then I go through it again seeing what letters I already have for the clues I find more difficult. That's the normal way of doing crosswords. If you find a clue you just can't get, you can even cheat by clicking the Cheat button and the answer will be filled in for you.
