I have managed to sort this out. Going to Voiceover utility I managed to set up lines in the web rota. You go to web and then web rota and then check lines as the available item on the rota.
You are right that with lines enabled on the rota this becomes a far better method for slecting and copying text. I am sure that a lot of people will be very grateful for this discouvery.
