First of all, do you have Mail set to Classic view? If you're in the default
Mail view setting, then you'll be clicking on a vertical splitter to get rid of
the Preview pane. If you're in Classic view, then you double click on a
horizontal splitter. Also, use a real mouse click here (don't just route your
mouse cursor to the splitter and try VO-Shift-Space for the click and double
click actions). On my laptop I typically do the double click by turning Mouse
Keys on (which is set up to toggle on/off with 5 presses of the Option key) and
then using the Fn+i key for clicks. And to answer Chris, you can get the
Preview pane back by double clicking on the same horizontal or vertical
splitter.
