To add items to the playlist from the finder simply copy and paste them. As for 
adding in random order it never happens to me. I can copy paste and it adds 
them the way I copy pasted it, that is in order from 1 to what ever.  I dunno 
know why you are having so many issues with iTunes when it seems to be working 
for most of us here and quite flawlessly I might add.  Scratches head in 
wonderment.
