Hi Esther, It's not actually a huge problem because the issue only arises under certain very specific circumstances namely:
1. when the cmd-t shortcut is activated and successful compilation occurs; 2. the pDF associated with an open .TeX file is closed. When the .TeX file itself is closed, no crash occurs. The workaround is perfect for the final phase debugging (getting rid of overfull mboxes etc) though.
