Hi
If all else fails, the best method might be to do a
restore/reset from iTunes. We were prompted to set this up when
we updated our devices I think, but it was quite some time ago.
We don't have to enter it each time we unlock the device; having
to do so would be incredibly irritated I agree. I am not sure,
it's been ages since we powered them off, but I think you're
prompted to enter them following a power cycle.

Subject: security pen code on unlock?
I have a friend that just updated her iPhone 5 to ios 7 and now
would like to remove the 4 digit pen code that she is having to
type in at unlock.
It seems that after the setup was complete, she as prompted for a
4 digit code several times and entered it each time. Can this
not be removed, and if so where and how. Details would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks sincerely in advance.
Hugs, AJ
Recipe for happiness:
Live with enthusiasm, smile for no reason, love without
conditions, act with purpose, listen with your heart, and laugh
often.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be
pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and
nuzzle them gently.
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!
