Hello.
My company has a few customers who are blind using ?voiceover that are
running into some problems. I thought that I would throw this question out
to you guys and see if anyone knows a way to get around this issue.
Basically, we use WHM/CPanel as our server administration. We also have,
for web based mail a copy of Squirrel Mail installed on the server.
The issue is that when a client logs into their webmail account via Squirrel
Mail, they then are presented with two frames: a left frame, and a right
frame. Once they interact with the right frame, they can get to the link to
compose a new message. This works fine, and they are able to get the e-mail
composed, and elect to receive a read or a deliver receipt, or both. If
they need to attach any files, they also can do this with no problem. The
issue however is when they try sending off the e-mail to its recipient. As
soon as they press VO+Space on the send button, absolutely nothing at all
seems to be happening, and we have confirmed that the individual who should
be receiving the e-mail does not get it in their inbox. When I look at the
mail server logs on our server, I do not see any trace that the e-mail has
gone through the smtp server, nor through any sort of path to reach the
recipient.
We also tried routing the mouse with command+VO+F5, then clicking with
VO+shift+Space, and even have tried routing the mouse, then literally
clicking the track pad, and even have tried pressing return, as well as
pressing the space bar on this button. Nothing at all is working. We tried
to stop interacting with the right frame, then reinteract just in case the
page didn't refresh as far as Voiceover was concerned, but this doesn't seem
to have any effect either. Further to complicate things, we have tried both
in Safari, as well as in Google Chrome, I tried myself using Webkit, and
even using Lightning Web Browser. On Windows, I've tried with Firefox, as
well as with Internet Exploder... oh wait... did I really just say that?
LOL! At any rate, nothing works.
I'm completely out of options.
We are running Squirrel Mail 1.4.22 on Cent-OS 6 which is running CPanel/WHM
Web Host Manager 11.38.2.7.
If anyone has any idea, please let me know so that I may promptly answer
this support ticket on what else may can be done.
Chris.
