I needed to use BlackBoard Collaborate for a work school meeting. I was able to assess it before the meeting started, but I couldn't access it with any of the 3 screen readers installed on my PC. Hence, I requested a word doc of the IEP, so I could follow along.
Between the years 2005-2008, I used bbl for a graduate degree. Accessing the course materials depended on how the files were uploaded. I had problems with Office Chat feature, which was used on a weekly basis for one of my classes. The work around was to have a classmate read what was pmsted in real time and then I could post my responses when appropriate. In another class, there were videos that I couldn't access, so I needed to contact the web design department of the school and they sent me the videos on DVD disks. BlackBoard is a pain for those who are visually impaired. HTH.
