Good afternoon Eleanor, In my opinion, this is a very hard question to answer. Not because people are unwilling, but more because there are a lot of apps out there, and unless we know what you are into, enjoy, plan to do with your Mac, etc., it is hard for anyone to recommend apps that would be useful. For example, there is an app for Twitter, but do you even use twitter? There are apps for editing recordings, for making recordings, for broadcasting on radio stations, for blogging, etc. etc. etc. But if we don't know you, or what you like, it is hard to recommend anything specific.
