That might help, but the file transfer protocols are not the same I don't think that is you cannot connect to a mac from another platform using AFP, and since the mac disabled the ftp except via the terminal *that's how thou turn ftp access on on the mac) it's a bit harder to accomplish, but it is very much doable since I do it, via ftp not AFP.
