I hate to be the breaker of bad news, but after trying Snowflake for Mac which
was mentioned about a week ago by Dane here on list, I must say that thus far,
I am definitely not at all impressed. Please see my reasons below. If anyone
would like an audio demo of me illustrating these facts either 1 for proof, or
2, just so you can hear it in action, just let me know. I have no issue
putting something together. I’ll be in my studio all day, so it would be easy
enough to do.

Anyway…

1. When I click the genres button with any of the known methods: vo+space,
vo+shift+space after rooting the mouse, hitting return, hitting space bar,
routing the mouse then literally clicking the trackpad, etc, Voiceover goes
completely busy and no matter what the heck I do, it won’t become ready again
unless I restart Voiceover with command+F5 to turn it off, then again
command+F5 to turn it back on. Even command+tabbing to another application
doesn’t work.

2. Finally when I *do!* manage to get Voiceover to start cooperating, I notice
that the search button, and the genre button are both gone. Now, I have a
button that says alternative. As you may or may not have suspected, clicking
it with any of the above mentioned methods does literally absolutely nothing at
all.

3. After clicking the genre button, and unhanging Voiceover, I find lots of
stations in the table which are related to alternative, but I see absolutely no
way to change the genre, say, from alternative to Christian, or country, or
oldies, or adult contemporary, etc.

4. When I search for a station by hitting the search button if needed, then
going to the edit box, typing my key word search, then hitting return, nothing
at all shows up in the table. I’ve tried looking for wrcm 91.9 in Charlotte
NC, I’ve tried looking for WLYT 102.9 in Charlotte NC, WLNK 107.9 in Charlotte
NC, WSOC 103.7 in Charlotte NC, WKKT 96.9 the Kat in Charlotte NC, WBT 1110 in
Charlotte NC, KTAR in Phoenix AZ, KOA 810 in Denver CO, WSM in Nashville TN,
and have found none of these, which I find incredibly surprising for an app
which apparently clames to have over twenty thousand stations in its database.
I’ll admit that I haven’t paid for the pro version, which may wind up including
more stations in its database library, however I see no reference on their web
site to this one way or another. It looks like all I gain from the pro version
is the ability to output my audio to multiple sound devices, and the ability to
access the equalizer, which by the way, I don’t know either way if that is
accessible or not.

So yeah… it sounds to me like there are hardly any stations in this app which I
can find. Plus, I still don’t see a way to browse by location.

I therefore am not at this time going to be purchasing a license, that’s for
sure.

Now, I am extremely! willing to stand corrected on any of my notes above. If
there is something maybe I’m missing, then by all means! please please let me
know. I’m not seeing anything, but then again, I’m human. I’ve been known a
time or two to miss certain things, therefore I don’t clame to be correct in
everything. There is that slight chance I’m missing something, though I’m
sceptical of this possibility, admittedly.

Before anyone asks, yes, I’m on the most up to date version, and yes, I am
indeed using Yosemite.

Chris.
