Yes; it's a royal pain, indeed! I can offer no solution, however, other than
off-axis lighting. That matte spray might work, but I would think you should
remove the keys, spray them, then install them back on the keyboard after
they've dried. That's a big job, but who knows what that matte spray might
do to the circuitry underneath.
