Hey! Can I get in on this money thing, dear friends? ;-)

I agree with Shawn. Although we should always try to be polite and courteous
-- like one should be with anybody -- we are not "friends", here. To muddy
the concept of friendship with the type of interaction typical of a users'
group is frankly dangerous. I worry over friends and family members who have
come to depend on the internet as a source of social interaction, or worse
yet, as some sort of Lonely Hearts Club. Very dangerous practices!

We are not friends; we commune and help each other out on the sole basis of
our enthusiasm for the Mac. I'm sure that if we all met each other and yet
we didn't know we all used Macs, we'd probably go "YUK!" seven out of ten
times.

Sometimes, list members can push the bounds of the patience of others, and
over time, wear that patience down. That's an understandable hazard that
people risk if they don't watch what they post. I try to be nice, but
sometimes I can lose it if sufficiently provoked. That's life in the world
of forums.

As for Will, I don't know if he's consciously aware of what he does. Having
read his posts since he joined, something tells me that he isn't playing
with a full deck. If so, this illustrates yet another hazard of trying to
put emotional stock in the impersonal void of the internet:

People could by making fun of someone with a disability.

If you're not a person with a disability, Will, then you have to be the
biggest idiot I've ever seen on a list. If you are a person with a
disability, then more power to you, but may I suggest you discuss your posts
with your caregiver prior to sending them to us (or anywhere else).

(If you're not disabled, do you feel comfortable with yourself in light of
the impression your actions have left us with?)
