How sad. Yet another law or proscription derived from the presence of a mini-ninny terrorist: Someone or something, dancing on the edges of a group, irritating and inattentive to a fault. Nevertheless, able to generate responses and action disproportional to its own importance and value.
I seriously doubt that Will's dad would proceed with legal action. "I'll go tell my dad" is a very familiar phrase in the land of childish demands and pouts. I also apologize to Amber for not fully understanding the roots of her own impatience with someone who can prance frenetically around the margins while she has clear constraints and difficulties with no such freedoms. She is not obligated to tell us her troubles, but she did and we're a bit more attentive. Maybe there's a lesson of friendships and friends--and of simple respect. Will has his own infirmities which may diminish as he adds years. For others, time changes little. In a forum where we only have words, there must be a level of mutual risk-taking; trusting people to be rational and having self-control. Obviously we have failures at that and I'm never happy when open speech gets punished, however gently, to correct or eliminate someone's point of view or their personality. Will's still here. And I still have a delete key. I'd prefer those decisions are left in each individual's hands. Whether or not he wants, Will has to learn some uncomfortable lessons. You certainly don't have to let him learn them on your stage, then again the universe doesn't revolve around our lists. Which of us, Will, Amber, you or me, are not somehow trapped--and words are how we sometimes find release and remedy. And who of us decides ever really how this world unwinds?
