As a shopper I get very, very, very, very (you get the idea), irritated
by sales persons approaching me and asking If I need assistance. Do I
look lost, unsure and need help? If I need assistance I will find
someone and ask them for help.
I have found very few computer suppliers who won't just tell you what
you want to hear to get a sale. For example, I was in need of memory
for a PC at work. I dropped buy Future Shop and (with one foot still
outside) was immediately greeted at the door by someone who took way to
many happy pills that morning. I walked towards the computer section
and was waylaid by another sales associate wanting to be of assistance
(you can naff off and let me be about my business sprang to mind). I
had that irritated feeling by the time I arrived at the upgrade counter.
I asked the guy at the upgrade counter that I was looking for a memory
upgrade for my PC. I told him the make and model and he immediately
offered me some memory. I had this feeling that if I had been an
elderly man, not quite so confident, he would have offered me a banana,
charge me $60 and remind me there is no refund on opened bananas. I
should have trusted my gut. The banana, sorry, memory didn't work and I
knew I was in for a fight.

The moral of my story:
A. If you need help don't stand about getting angry, find someone and
ask. If you are not satisfied with the help then see the manager.
B. If you think someone is feeding you a line, it's probably true.
