Amber --
Been observing the discussion your question has generated. I object to exhorbitant shipping too, but when I buy something (usually stamps, sometimes software or hardware) I factor in the shipping charges (if not shown I ask before bidding) in determining the final price I agree to pay. But my point is that I also sell on eBay, and I factor into my Shipping & Handling charge the "listing fee" which for me is typically about 50 cents Canadian. I try to set the starting price as low as possible to attract buyer interest, and it really does reflect the minimum I want to get for the item itself. When the item is sold only the "final value fee" comes out of the bid price. This is the way I protect myself against ridiculously low bids. I don't consider this gouging, just practical business sense. I have alot of very happy repeat customers (a few have questioned my shipping charges, but when I give this explanation they don't seem to have a problem with it).
