The meat of my response... Have you tried printing the pictures yet? Also, do you think you'll ever use the interchangeable lens feature of the camera? I'm not worried about warranty (have never had to use one yet)-- convenience is more important. Since I'll have a close friend living in the US soon that last stumbling block will be overcome. I'd *rather* keep my $ in Canada (preferably local), but if that's going to make a 20-30% price difference on a big-ticket item (for a student, $600 is a big ticket item) I can't be that idealistic as a student, and am willing to take the risk of a hassle filled warrantee service (these items aren't without warrantee... it's just that you have to deal with the US branch for service). >Best Canadian Price: I purchased from Downtown camera in Toronto. I am leaving for Australia >in a month and had to buy now. I don't quite get why some stores simply won't budge on prices. Not too long ago walked out on a $1000 sale (HP Laser) because they wouldn't budge by $100, even when I *knew* the margin was well over $100 (the next place I went to sold it to us for $874, $30 *below* the academic price even)). I guess I'm rather ignorant of microeconomic theory but I thought that as long as the retail price was higher than the inventory price, a retailer was better off moving the stock rather than sitting on it and losing a sale to someone else. For the manufacturer, obviously it's better to have the market artificially high (or as high as possible), but that's the beauty of retail competition -- each retailer will have to watch out for the other retailer getting their sales (&, to antogonise MacDuff about illegal collusion between music manufacturers... (or maybe I shouldn't... the last time (s)he (?) got agitated it ended up in a number of self-perpetuating digests)). Eric. -- Mac Canada is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
