If you're looking for a "Low-End" approach, I bought a Palm IIIe unit at a pawn shop about 15 months ago. I wasn't sure I'd find it useful, but I find that I am using it a whole lot, and letting the old paper agenda gather dust. It syncs beautifully to both my own Mac and my office windoze machine. My only concern is that I am starting to regularly run into the last 25% of memory, and I may have to get a newer unit sometime in the next year or so.

I have to echo what others have said; the Palm OS is very friendly to Macs and has been very solid in its operation. The Grafitti writing system seems awkward, but you get used to it very quickly. I also got ahold of a keyboard for my Palm unit, and have found it to be outstanding for note taking in meetings or at conferences. When I do have to replace my Palm IIIe, I will definitely be getting a keyboard for the new unit.

Hope this helps.
